DE: Bei der Produktfamilie «Grafix» wurden klassische Grafik-Werkzeuge neu beleuchtet und erweitert.
Vor X Jahren schlich ich ins Arbeitszimmer meines Grossvaters. Verstaut in einer Schublade gab es nämlich einen Haufen an Werkzeugen und einen schwarzen Caran d’Ache Kugelschreiber, den ich liebte. Meine Leidenschaft für Werkzeugdesign blieb bis heute und wurde zur zentralen Inspiration dieses Projekts.
«Grafix» folgt dem Prinzip weniger ist mehr. Aufbauend auf diesen Werten entstanden drei Objekte mit sechs verschiedenen Funktionen. Im Arbeitsprozess skizzierte ich zunächst alle Werkzeuge in Adobe Illustrator, um meine Gedanken und ersten Skizzen festzuhalten. Nach dem Entwurfsprozess baute ich die Werkzeuge in CAD Solidworks und verfeinerte sie anschliessend. Am Ende nutzte ich die 3D-Daten für die Visualisierungen in Cinema 4D.
Das Endergebnis: Ein Japanmesser, das gleichzeitig eine Schere ist; ein Winkelmesser, der auf der Rückseite als Zirkel funktioniert; und ein Stift-Lineal, das gerade Linien mit Massangabe ziehen kann. Durch die Kombinationen lassen sich die multifunktionalen Werkzeuge platzsparend verstauen und vielseitig einsetzen.

Years ago, I sneaked into my grandfather’s study. Stored in a drawer were a lot of tools and a black Caran d’Ache pen that I loved. My passion for tool design has remained to this day and became the central inspiration for this project.
«Grafix» follows the principle of less is more. Building on this value, three objects with six different functions were created. During the design process, I first sketched all the tools in Adobe Illustrator to capture my thoughts and experiment. Afterward, I built the tools in CAD Solidworks and refined them. Finally, I used the 3D data to create the visualizations in Cinema 4D.
The final result: a utility knife that is also a pair of scissors, a straight protractor that serves as a compass on the other side and last but not least, a pencil ruler that can draw straight lines with a measurement indicator. Through these combinations, the multifunctional tools can be stored space-efficiently and used in versatile ways.
